In actual production, the operator needs to adjust the gluing temperature, gluing amount, pressing pressure and pressing time of EVA hot melt adhesive according to the model of the edge banding machine, the type of sheet and the speed of the production line.
Modern panel furniture production widely adopts high-speed automatic edge banding machines, and the operating speed of the equipment can reach more than 20 meters per minute, which puts forward strict requirements for the process adaptability of EVA hot melt adhesive for edge banding.The performance of EVA hot melt adhesive in the high-speed edge banding process is first reflected in the stability of its melt viscosity.The appropriate viscosity range ensures that the glue can be evenly transferred to the slotted surface of the sheet through the coating roller, neither the coating amount is insufficient or the adhesive layer is too thick due to the high viscosity, nor the glue will flow or penetrate excessively due to the low viscosity.The thermal stability of the colloid is also critical. It is continuously heated in the glue tank for several hours or even longer. The viscosity of the glue should be kept relatively stable to avoid deterioration of the gluing effect due to decomposition or carbonization.
The uniformity of gluing is one of the core indicators to measure the quality of edge banding, which directly affects the binding strength and service life of the edge banding strip and the plate.In the high-speed gluing process of EVA hot melt adhesive, the consistency of the thickness of the adhesive layer depends on the rheological characteristics of the colloid and the design parameters of the coating roller.When the operating speed of the edge banding machine changes, the shear rate of the glue changes accordingly, which requires the colloid to have moderate shear thinning characteristics, that is, the viscosity is appropriately reduced at high shear rates to facilitate coating, and the viscosity can be quickly restored after coating to prevent flowing.The opening time of the colloid also needs to be matched with the speed of the production line. High-speed edge banding requires a short opening time, so that the glue remains properly viscous before pressing, but it will not cure prematurely and affect the infiltration effect.
